ADVICO: The Next Chapter Unfolds

From our beginnings as the GEN-Z Vineyard Project to today’s exciting evolution, one thing has never changed — our commitment to advancing viticulture in South Africa.
We are proud to introduce ADVICO — the Advancement of Viticulture Collective South Africa.
A new identity that reflects who we’ve become: a collective of growers, researchers, and industry partners working together to drive progress, sustainability, and innovation across our vineyards.
The name may be new, but the mission remains the same — to grow, together.

Alexanderfontein Demo 2025

Vinpro Intern Siyabonga Mhlungu joins the GEN-Z Vineyard Project team at Alexanderfontein in Darling, where we’re exploring the impact of rootstock and clone selection in Sauvignon Blanc.

Set in the Coastal Region on deep, well-drained red/yellow apedal loam soils, this dryland vineyard provides a unique environment to evaluate rootstock performance. With factors like water availability, soil pH, salinity, and climate shaping vineyard success, this demo aims to guide growers in selecting the best rootstocks for their conditions. By generating and sharing these insights, we empower growers to make informed, site-specific choices.

Otterkuil Demo 2025

Join Lou Roodt, a Vinpro intern working alongside the GEN-Z team, as they explore the Otterkuil demo site in Agter-Paarl, Coastal Region: Bushvine Chenin Blanc and Pinotage each planted on 10 different rootstocks, to evaluate the capability of these rootstocks in dryland conditions.
